چکیده

introduction: candida dubliniensis and c. albicans are very similar in morphology and phenotypic characteristics. approximation of this yeast species has caused major problems in identifying these two correctly. materials and methods: to distinguish among sixty yeast clinical isolates from patients with cancer, polymerase chain reaction - restriction fragment length polymorphism (pcr-rflp) was done. results: pcr-rflp of the its region showed different patterns between candida dubliniensis and c. albicans after digestion with enzymes blni. all of the clinical isolates were diagnosed as c .albicans.   the results were confirmed by sequencing and rapd-pcr. conclusion: pcr-rflp would be a useful and applicable technique in clinical laboratories for discrimination of c. albicans and c. dubliniensis.

Differentiation of Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis using a single-enzyme PCR-RFLP method.

Candida dubliniensis is a novel Candida spp. that is similar to Candida albicans with respect to several phenotypic characteristics. However, they differ from each other with respect to epidemiology, pathogenesis, and the rapid development of resistance to fluconazole. In the present study, we used a single-enzyme PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) technique to differentiate C....

RAPD technique is a useful tool to distinguish Penicillium species.

Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) analysis was used to evaluate genetic diversity among 13 soil Penicillium strains originating from widely dispersed areas. Twenty one of the 34 synthetic random primers were found to identify polymorphism in amplification products. The results show a high level of diversity of RAPD markers among the strains. All the strains could be identified by their ch...

Candida albicans versus Candida dubliniensis: Why Is C. albicans More Pathogenic?

Candida albicans and Candida dubliniensis are highly related pathogenic yeast species. However, C. albicans is far more prevalent in human infection and has been shown to be more pathogenic in a wide range of infection models. Comparison of the genomes of the two species has revealed that they are very similar although there are some significant differences, largely due to the expansion of viru...

The Relationship between Hepatitis C Genotypes and Viral Load: a study on hepatitis C patients in Kerman, Iran using Real-time PCR

Abstract Background: Distribution of hepatitis C virus genotypes varies geographically and can be associated with clinical aspects. The virus has six major genotypes and eleven sub-genotypes. According to the recent studies, in hepatitis C patients, treatment duration and ribavirin dosage should be determined based on the type of virus genotype. Be...

Molecular Identification and In-Vitro Susceptibility of Candida albicans and C. dubliniensis Isolated from Immunocompromised Patients

Background: Yeasts are increasingly implicated in serious systemic infections. The aim of this study was to identify Candida albicans and C. dubliniensis from isolates of immunocompromised patients and evaluate the in vitro antifungal activities of them against antifungal agents. Methods: One hundred and seventy eight C. albicans were isolated by routine methods from 403 immunocompromised patie...

Use of PCR-RFLP and PCR-HWP1 for identification of Candida species isolated from cystic fibrosis patients

Background: Due to the predisposing conditions in patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) caused by defective mucociliary clearance facilitating colonization and invasion with Candida species has dramatically increased. Traditional methods for identifying problems are imminent and time-consuming. Therefore, molecular techniques utilizing amplification of target DNA provide quick and precise methods ...
